RPGs that don't need a server
Finding a mobile RPG that fully works offline is harder than it should be. So many of them phone home for the smallest things, and the moment your signal drops the whole adventure stalls. We went looking for the ones that don't.
Emberfall Saga is our current favorite. It's a proper turn-based campaign with characters worth caring about, and once it's installed nothing on the internet matters. Pausable battles make it perfect for stop-start commutes.
When picking an offline RPG, check two things before you commit: the download size and whether combat can be paused. A big game that can't survive a lost connection is worse than a small one that can.
We're always testing more, so this list grows. If a title makes us forget we're offline, it earns a spot here.
