Big Bass Splash is a fishing simulator that we came into expecting a quick tap-fest and left with a spot on our regular rotation. You pick a spot, choose your bait, cast with a flick, and then read the water. The reeling mini-game rewards patience — pull too hard and the line snaps, too soft and the fish shakes loose.
What kept us playing offline was the progression. You unlock new rods and lures, each of which changes how certain fish behave, and there's a quiet joy in figuring out the right combo for a stubborn catch. The whole thing runs smoothly on older phones and never once asked us to reconnect.
Control-wise it's forgiving. Everything is one-handed, the swipe gestures feel natural after a few casts, and the audio — water, reel, the little splash on a bite — does a lot of the heavy lifting. It's a calm game, and that's exactly what we liked about it.
