Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that respects your time on a phone. Battles are turn-based and can be paused mid-move, so you can drop it the second the bus arrives and pick up right where you left off. The story follows a band of exiles crossing a dying continent, and the writing is sharper than most mobile games bother with.

Combat leans on positioning and elemental weaknesses rather than grinding. We spent whole fights just moving people around the grid to set up a chain of skills, and it never felt like busywork. Loot is generous without being overwhelming.

It's a big download but everything lives on your device afterward. We played the whole first act on a long train ride without a single connection prompt.
